What can I do to improve the appearance of my scar?

Patients have many options available to them in order to improve the appearance of their surgical scars. Following Dr. Barr’s instructions when tending to your incision sites is essential. It is also important to follow his lifestyle advice in order for your incisions to heal properly. This includes quitting smoking prior to and after your operation. Proper wound care in the healing period is important. Patients may also purchase silicone scar strips or creams which can be applied to the incision site once the sutures have been removed.

How much time off will I need after my surgery?

The amount of time that you will need for recovery depends entirely on the type of surgical procedure(s) you have and how quickly you heal.
